Wild Gravel 5th October 2024, Information Update

We are now less than 2 weeks away from our inaugural Wild Gravel Event. Registrations have been coming in steadily with over 230 people signing up for the event so far. Are you interested in participating? Walking, running and riding options (including E bikes) are available! Visit www.wildgravel.com.au to register.

Registration Evening:

On Friday 4th between 2pm-5pm, the Shire car park will become the registration point for participants to collect their registration pack.  Local food outlets including Little Groves Café, the Gnowangerup Hotel, the Roadhouse and Gnowangerup IGA will be open and offering dinner options for those passing through town.

Event Location:

The event village, adjacent to the start/finish area, is about 1.2km along Stirling Range Drive from the Chester Pass Road intersection. Stirling Range Drive will be closed to traffic for the entire event. Red Gum Pass Road will be closed on Saturday morning only.

Event Village:

The event village can only be accessed on foot or by bike and will be open on event day from 7am until 4pm. An event parking area will be setup at the entrance to Stirling Range Drive (east), and drivers will be under the direction of Parking Managers for those participating. Please note that Stirling Range Drive is closed in its entirety for the event, hence there can be no spectating on course outside of the designated spectating area. Note that parking may be limited (and congested) at certain times of the day, and where possible, we ask participants to carpool to reduce the number of vehicles parking at the event. To further alleviate the parking issue, we are planning on running a frequent shuttle service from the Bluff knoll Café carpark to the event. Please keep an eye out for further information about this option shortly.

Pitstops

There will be 3 main pitstops on the ride course – Central Lookout (22km from the start/finish), Western Lookout (36km from start/finish) and Red Gum South Pitstop (52km from start/finish. In addition, there will be 3 additional pitstops at the run distance turnarounds, at 2.5km, 6km and 10.5kmm from that start finish.

Local Volunteers

Our wonderful St John Ambulance volunteers will operate a first aid station at the Event Village for the duration of the event. The Gnowangerup SES will provide a communication station at the Central Lookout, assist with traffic management/parking and help wherever else needed.  Thank you to our amazing volunteers.

Post Event Celebration

After the event, a post-event celebration will be held at Mt Trio Bushcamp and Caravan Park, and everyone—participants, volunteers, and community members alike—is warmly invited to attend. The event will be a relaxed social event with live music, catering from the Soul Van and some other event formalities.

How can you be involved? We need you!

We still have several volunteer positions that need filling on Saturday. Why not gather a group and man a pitstop together? We also need help setting up the event village and assistance at the after party. Please contact Neah Stewart (details below) if you’d like to help out.

Sponsors

We are so grateful for our local sponsors who have helped make this event happen. Thank you especially to our Gold Sponsor Afgri Gnowangerup; Silver sponsors Mount Trio Bush Camp and Caravan Park, Gnowangerup IGA and BP Imports; and Bronze sponsors Auspan, Nutrien, Stirling Range Retreat, DJ Smith Photography and Great Southern Drone Service.
