PUBLIC NOTICE

HAZARD REDUCTION ACTIVITIES – Borden Townsite

Residents and visitors of Borden are advised that members of the Local Bushfire Brigade will be burning piles of timber debris in areas around Borden.

PURPOSE:           To commence with the pile burning inside low fuel buffer zones around assets within the town sites

to reduce the potential for a bushfire impacting the town site.

Volunteers from Borden Bush fire Brigade will be conducting hazards reduction burns in the weeks to come with consideration of winds, to minimise smoke from entering town site.

DATE:                    Beginning Wednesday, 10th July 2024 for a period of approximately 2 weeks.

LOCATION:         Areas of the Borden town sites treatments are detailed below:

 

 

 

WHAT TO DO DURING AND AFTER HAZARD REDUCTION ACTIVITIES:

  • Motorists are asked to have their headlights on when driving through the area and drive to the conditions as the smoke hazard will remain for a number of days after the burn is completed.
  • Abide by all directions of Fire Fighters/Emergency Services personnel on
  • Smoke may affect visibility and air quality in and around Borden on the day and the days Residents and visitors with any respiratory conditions are reminded to have their medication close by or on them as a precaution.
  • Fire Fighters will be conducting patrols of the treatment areas in the days following each prescribed
