Inaugural Wild Gravel Cycling and Running Event to Debut in the Stunning Stirling Range, Shire of Gnowangerup

 

Stirling Range, Western Australia – October 5, 2024 – Outdoor enthusiasts and fitness fans alike will have a new highlight on their calendars this year as the inaugural Wild Gravel Cycling and Running event kicks off in the breathtaking landscapes of the Stirling Ranges. This exciting new event promises to bring together cyclists and runners of all levels for a day of exhilarating outdoor fun.

The Wild Gravel Cycling and Running event offers participants a choice of thrilling gravel rides and runs designed to challenge and inspire:

  • Gravel Rides: 21km, 50km, 80km, 125km
  • Gravel Runs: 5km, 12km, 21km

 

The Stirling Ranges, known for its rugged beauty and diverse flora and fauna, provides the perfect backdrop for this unique event. Riders and runners will navigate through the stunning scenery, encountering a mix of challenging terrains and awe-inspiring views that make this region a relatively undiscovered outdoor mecca.

“Gravel cycling is the fastest growing genre of cycling around the world, and we are thrilled to bring this exciting, new event to Western Australia in the lead-up to the 2026 World Gravel Cycling Championships.” said Rory Murray, Wild Gravel Project Manager. “The Stirling Ranges are a spectacular location, and we know this event will offer an unforgettable experience for all participants.”

Participants can expect mountain vistas, rolling gravel roads, aid stations, mechanical support, and a festive atmosphere that celebrates the spirit of adventure and community. Families and spectators are welcome to join the fun, with plenty of activities and local attractions nearby to enjoy throughout the day, and over the weekend.
