BUSH FIRES ACT 1954
PART Ill PREVENTION OF BUSH FIRES SECTION 17 - COMMENCEMENT OF PROHIBITED
BURNING TIME
Pursuant to Section 17 of the Bush Fires Act 1954 the Shire of Gnowangerup advises due to seasonal conditions the Prohibited burning period will commence Friday 1st of November 2024
Fuel load and seasonal conditions across the Shire are in a dry state and until we have substantial amounts of rain the risk to the community remains high.
Please note:
- Only protective burning can be carried out during Prohibited burning times under the following conditions:
- Protective burning is permissible under S23 of the Bushfires Act - need to quote section in notice
- Protective burning is permissible between 4pm and midnight on the same day (S23.2.ii)
- Protective burning must be between two ploughed breaks (S23.2iii) not more than 20m apart (S23.v)
- A permit to burn is obtained
- No burning on Christmas and Boxing day
- Burning is to be carried out between 4pm and midnight on the same day
- All conditions of Restricted Burning Period must be compiled
- No fires are to be lit in the open air during this period
- No fire permits will be issued by Fire Control Officers.
