Sport & Recreation

The Shire of Gnowangerup is home to three very successful and vibrant Sporting Complex's which provide the home for many local Sporting Clubs. Each Sporting Complex Committee provides overarching support for its local Clubs as well as managing the premises and fundraising for additional facilties.

Gnowangerup Sporting Complex

The Gnowangerup Sporting Complex is the home of sport and recreation in the Gnowangerup Town. It was recently rebuilt in 2012 and now contains a large function room, kitchen, bar, indoor courts, meeting room and a courtyard with BBQ facilities. It currently provides facilities for football, netball, hockey, basketball, volleyball, cricket and badminton. The new multi-purpose synthetic turf allows for both tennis and hockey to be played on the one surface adjacent to the complex building.

Borden Pavillion

The Borden Pavilion is located centrally in the Gnowangerup Shire. It is a great venue for meetings, conferences, parties, bands and fundraisers etc.

The Function Room is licensed to hold 400 people, with tables and seating for approx. 110 people. There is a large kitchen and bar area with a cool room. A courtyard with BBQ facilities adjoins the Function Room. The Ausplow Meeting Room is able to seat up to 25 people. Crèche facilities are available. There is access for the disabled via a ramp from the large car park. 

The Borden Pavillion consists of 2 mulitpupose courts, cricket nets as well as some a bowling green alongside the Pavillion.

Ongerup Sporting Complex 

The Ongerup Sporting Complex lies centrally in the town of Ongerup. The Complex has great bar, function room and kitchen facilties aswell as a newly revamped BBQ courtyard and playground. The Ongerup Bowling Club lies adjacent to the Complex with a new state of the art bowls carpet surface. 


CDO Scheme

All three Sporting Complex's will be undergoing Strategic Planning Workshops through 2015 to help develop comprehensive business plans and 10 year budgets. This inititave has been thanks to the Department of Sport and Recreation's Club Development Officer Scheme.
